Honda introduces the all new Civic Type R

2013_honda_civic_type_r_photo
Honda Motors has just announced an all new Civic Type R model that is expected to go on sales post 2015 and if history repeats itself, this Type R could be well accepted in the market and eventually turn out to be a bigger commercial success than the original model. There is a high chance of that occurring as Honda Type R vehicles are in a league of their own.

Honda has been developing Type R vehicles for close to two decades now and their experience is definitely trust worthy. The Civic Type R like all its other siblings sport the red Type R badge on its back and this makes the vehicle look even better than the original.

It can be correctly said that the Civic is a car which truly deserved a Type R badge. Honda had also helped the Ayrton Senna sport the Type R badge in the 1990s when the company was on its way developing the NSX.
The NSX was the first real vehicle to sport an entire chassis, body and frame of aluminum and the vehicle was a complete hit on and off track. The NSX has been remodeled quite a few times and the NSX R was the most successful of the lot.

Even though very few NSX models were manufactured, the vehicle still holds a special place in the hearts of all the people who owned the car. The last generation of the NSX was launched back in 2002 and this was the most successful model of the lot.

The NSX sported a 3.2 liter powerful V6 engine and was totally hand assembled. It was a true beauty and the collector’s pride. The NSX R GT was another beast which was built to generate hype around the vehicle when it was set to be phased out of the market.

The NSX R GT was a dominating vehicle on all Japanese race tracks and soon the vehicle became the talking point of people all over the world, once again. In 1995, Honda introduced the Type R badge on the Integra, a less popular Honda model at the time.

The Integra Type R soon won hearts all over the racing circuit with its trustworthy performance, high speed and high safety standards. Although this vehicle was never used for professional racing, its record on the track was more than satisfying.

The Integra received a new 1.8 liter engine and the fine tuning helped the performance increase of the vehicle within an affordable budget. The Integra R managed to control the Ford car sales more than the basic model could ever dream of doing.

The base model of the Honda Civic was introduced in the market back in 1996 and this is high time that the vehicle gets a Type R badge attached to it. Honda has high expectations from this Type R vehicle and this is a genuine claim.

The Civic has enough power to be one of the best selling models from Honda and it is set to do just that post launch.

The 2013 Honda Accord Releases TODAY! Final 2013 Honda Accord Data: Automatic Dual-Zone Climate Control

2012-09-17_1718

Automatic Dual-Zone Climate Control

Dual-zone automatic climate control lets you have it your way.

Peace at last; no more climate wars in the new Accord.

All Accord models feature a dual-zone automatic climate control system with independent left and right temperature controls. A single temperature can be selected for the entire cabin, or the driver and front passenger can set different temperatures for their side of the cabin.

On navigation-equipped models, the dual-zone climate control system uses Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to monitor the vehicle position relative to the sun, making necessary adjustments to help ensure that selected interior temperatures remain stable in the respective zones. This is one smart car.

The 2013 Honda Accord Releases Tomorrow! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

2013-honda-accord-adaptivecruisecontrol

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

The Accord Touring Sedan’s Adaptive Cruise Control helps cope with the ebb and flow of highway traffic.

New Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is exclusive to the Accord Touring Sedan in the Honda lineup. As with a conventional cruise-control system, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) allows the driver to set a desired speed. But ACC goes a step further, allowing the driver to set a desired speed and the following distance behind the vehicle ahead.

While cruising, engagement of Adaptive Cruise Control prompts the driver to select a short, medium or long distance behind the vehicle ahead. ACC then modulates the throttle and applies moderate braking, if necessary, to hold the selected following distance.

Drivers will find that Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) simplifies driving and helps reduce fatigue by automatically controlling the distance to the vehicle ahead.

Like the mirror that made its debut on CR-V, the new Accord’s Expanded View Driver’s Mirror increases the driver’s field of vision to provide a better view of objects that might otherwise be hidden in the vehicle’s left-side “blind spot.” Finally, a way to see what you’ve been missing.

Sweet 6-Speed Automatic

To maximize acceleration and fuel efficiency, the 2013 Accord V-6 is available with an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission.

Accord V-6 is the first Honda sedan to feature a new 6-speed automatic transmission that advances launch feel and acceleration performance. Combined with Accord V-6’s Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) system, the new transmission is a major factor in the car’s improved fuel efficiency.

Compared to the previous-generation 5-speed transmission, the new 6-speed transmission can have a wider gear ratio spread that offers aggressive lower ratios for strong acceleration, coupled with a top gear that makes for relaxed and fuel-efficient highway cruising. The 6-speed manual transmission helps make Accord V-6 fast, frugal and fun.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 6 Days Away! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: A Third Eye On the Road

Lanedeparturewarning

A Third Eye On the Road.

Honda’s first application of Lane Departure Warning (LDW) comes as an available feature in the 2013 Accord.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is an available technology on the new Accord. The system uses a digital camera mounted behind the windshield to monitor the roadway ahead to alert the driver if the car is unexpectedly moving out of its intended lane. Think of LDW as one more eye on the road. One that doesn’t blink.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 8 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Excitment Meets Efficiency with VCM (Variable Cylinder Management)

320px-honda_j35a_vcm_engine

Excitement Meets Efficiency with VCM.

Accord V-6 models with the 6-speed automatic transmission feature Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) for the best of both worlds.

The 2013 Accord’s new, more powerful V-6 can also stretch fuel further with an overall improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the outgoing model. Plus, it offers greater smoothness and more consistent power delivery than the turbocharged 4-cylinder engines in some competitive cars.

How does VCM work? During startup, aggressive acceleration or when climbing hills – any time high power output is required – the engine operates on all six cylinders. During moderate-speed cruising and at low or moderate engine loads, the system operates on a reduced number of cylinders.

The VCM system can change the working displacement of the engine to match the driving requirements from moment to moment. It’s like having a small engine when you only need a little power and a big engine when you really need to move. Since the system automatically closes both the intake and exhaust valves of the cylinders that are not used, pumping losses associated with intake and exhaust are eliminated and fuel efficiency gets a further boost.

The VCM system combines maximum performance and maximum fuel efficiency – two characteristics that don’t happily coexist in conventional engines. Glad to say they get along just fine in the new Accord V-6 automatic.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: Fewer Gas Pains

Fewer Gas Pains.

With significantly improved fuel efficiency for a midsize automatic-equipped sedan, the 2013 Accord 4-cylinder can save you money at the pump.

Even though the 2013 Accord has more equipment and features than ever before, and it has a new 4-cylinder engine with more horsepower and considerably more torque than the engine it replaces, the vehicle is substantially more fuel-efficient.

What are the main reasons? More use of lighter, stronger steel, a new direct injection system and the available Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). With an essentially infinite range of available gear ratios, the CVT has just the right gear for every situation, maximizing efficiency – and gas station drive-bys.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 12 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Can You Count to Infinity? (Continuously Variable Transmission)

Cvt

Can You Count to Infinity?

The 2013 Accord 4-cylinder’s Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) has more gear ratios than you’d care to count.

Conventional automatic transmissions typically have five or six gear ratios to choose from, so the shift logic selects the gear that is the closest to ideal for the situation.

Accord’s CVT, on the other hand, has two variable-width pulleys connected by a metallic belt. The belt can circle the angled pulley faces at varying diameters, depending on the pulley width. The change in effective diameter alters the ratio between the pulleys.

What does that mean in plain English? Instead of approximating the correct ratio for the conditions like a conventional automatic does, Accord’s CVT can precisely select the optimum ratio from moment to moment without conventional shifts or slippage. So if you need power, efficiency – or both – there’s a gear for that (and hundreds more).

Accord’s newly reworked and more powerful available V-6 can be paired with a new 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox.
