Great work, team , on the following 5-star reviews!

Yelp

"A big shout out to salesperson Shamid,  manager Frank, and finance manager Todd for making the car buying process such a pleasure! I detest car shopping with a passion, but this time my experience was not only painless, but enjoyable.  Shamid was very knowledgeable and patient with my questions and Todd took time to explain each form that needed to be signed as well as what other services and options that were available.  I appreciate their professionalism and service."

"Great customer service skills, patient, funny, courteous & honest is what CHAD WATTS is. If you come here to buy a car, you should only ask for this guy. I guarantee you, you will not be disappointed. I am very happy with my purchase and wouldn't have had it completed without his help. He definitely went above and beyond! He even stayed after his work hours to make sure all the paperwork went smoothly. He even connected my phone via bluetooth to my car!! He is the BEST car salesman I've ever had.

Trust me when I say CHAD WATTS!! Ask for him ;)"

2014 Honda Accord Plug-In: Test Drive Review

Not many people will have the chance to buy a 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In when it goes on sale in California and New York next year, but those that do will find a car that performs the way we were promised gasoline-electric hybrids one day would.

Honda recently announced that pricing for the 2014 Accord Plug-In will start at $37,980 (plus $750 destination), a premium for the segment that includes the Chevy Volt and Toyota Prius plug-in. But the Accord is a leap forward for Honda, and in some ways, plug-in hybrids everywhere.

The 2014 Accord Plug-In is outfitted with the same features as the 2012 Accord Touring, the top-of-the-line Honda sedan, which means that an impressive array of comfort and safety features come standard. The Accord Plug-In feels like a warm and engaging luxury car that just happens to sometimes run on battery power, immediately making it an attractive alternative to the competition.
Inside, the Accord Plug-In sports very comfortable ten-way adjustable seats with adequate room for five. Technology is impressive but not overwhelming, with a large touch-screen interface and seven-speaker audio system tastefully worked into the interior. Soothing lights and sounds welcome you when the car starts, and high-quality glossy materials are pleasing to the eye.

Your experience from the outside may be a different story, however. We’ve discussed the, shall we say, unorthodox appearance of the 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In before. In person, the gaping front grille is a little less ghastly, but is still a design that only its mother could love. In an effort to differentiate the plug-in from its Accord brothers, Honda probably went too far with creative freedom.
But that’s not why people will buy the car, anyway. The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In will achieve an estimated 115 MPGe with an all-electric range of 13 miles. The two-motor system is a first for Honda, and in a short drive around downtown Los Angeles, it came off as a refined and smooth powertrain befitting its price tag. Under electric power, the Accord Plug-In will pull mightily when you want it, and then subtly transitions into the gasoline engine as you gain speed. It’s a promising system that Honda should attempt to work into more vehicles, especially as the cost begins to
decrease a bit.

Also very impressive is the standard LaneWatch system that shows a live video of your blind spot when attempting to switch lanes. Our own James Flammang wrote an explanation and review of the technology last week, here, and it adds a welcome level of technology and safety to the 2014 Accord Plug-In.

If you can get past its price and design, and consider yourself an early adopter of fuel-efficient technology, the 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In is a promising newcomer that deserves your attention. Only if you live in New York or California, though.

Weekly Car Care Tip: Park in the shade

14.00

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

Shade

Of course, a garage is always the ideal place to park your car. But if one isn’t available, minimize interior damage from UV sunlight and heat by always trying to park your car in the shade. If no shade is available or if you find parking under a tree results in bird droppings, use a car shade to minimize the sun’s impact. As a bonus, you’ll have a cooler car to step into on hot sunny days. Car shades come in two basic types: those that you unfold and place on the front windshield and rear window, or pleated types that attach to the windshield posts (with adhesive), window frames (with Velcro), or the windows themselves (with suction cups).

Weekly Car Care Tip: Brush out the air vents

These louvers are a real magnet for dust, and a vacuum with a brush attachment just won’t get it all. Take an inexpensive paint brush and give it a light shot of Endust or Pledge furniture polish. Work the brush into the crevices to collect the dust. Wipe the brush off with a rag and move on to the next one.

Honda moves towards a larger selection of hybrid vehicles

2012-honda-insight

Honda announced a milestone achievement this week. After 12 years and 11 months of global sales, the Japanese automaker sold its one-millionth hybrid.
Honda’s hybrids have come a long way since the original Insight first went on sale in Japan in 1999. In the U.S., Honda introduced the Civic Hybrid, original six-cylinder Accord Hybrid, CR-Z, and the Acura ILX Hybrid, which has the distinction of being the one millionth Honda Hybrid ever sold.
While the original Honda Insight arrived less than a year after the first-generation Toyota Prius in Japan, it actually beat the Prius to the market here in the hybrid-loving United States. Despite that advantage, Toyota has long surpassed the million mark for its hybrid vehicles. In fact, as of May of this year, Toyota has sold four million hybrids globally. Its popular Prius lineup alone has trumped Honda’s hybrid sales; Toyota reached the million marker in U.S. Prius sales back in April, and has sold over two million of the gas sipper globally as of October 2010.
Honda isn’t taking rival Toyota’s hybrid sales lead sitting down. Within the next couple years Honda will be introducing a new generation of hybrids it hopes will slow Toyota’s lead. The new Accord will be getting a plug-in hybrid variant next year and a traditional hybrid after that. In the coming years, Acura may get three new all-wheel-drive hybrids: the four-door RLX hybrid sedan, the reborn Acura NSX, and possibly even an MDX hybrid crossover.
So why have Toyota hybrids thoroughly outsold Honda hybrids? Some say it might have to do with the technology while others might point to the original Prius’ more traditional four-door sedan body style.. Either way, we want to know what you think Honda needs to change in order to attempt to catch Toyota’s hybrid sales. Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

Weekly Car Care Tip- Don’t forget the timing belt

Timing_belt

On many cars, it’s the belt you can’t see that is the most critical. If your manual says, as many do, that you should replace the timing belt at 50,000 miles, do it! A failed timing belt can, depending on engine type, cause thousands of dollars of damage to your engine.

In a male-dominated market, the cute new Honda Fit She's was created for women

Fitshe

Around the world, building and designing cars remains a male-dominated business, and many companies live by an old axiom that women will buy a man's car but men won't buy a woman's car. While a few companies have attempted to bend that rule, only Honda has chosen to embrace it with the Honda Fit She's -- the only model built by an automaker today aimed exclusively at women. Hope you like pink, ladies.

There's a long and embarrassing history of automakers attempting to lure women with ladies-only models. At the turn of the 20th century, electric cars were marketed to wives with the pitch that their lack of hand-crank starting would avoid broken shoulders and/or death. In 1955, Chrysler made a bid for feminine attention with the Dodge LaFemme -- which came in a two-tone pink-and-white paint scheme, along with a storage place for the matching purse and rain hat. Lest you think modern executives learned from errors of the past, in 2000 Ford showed off a concept Windstar minivan developed with Maytag featuring a compact washer/dryer, microwave and vacuum in the rear hatch, because why would a soccer mom ever want to be parted from her appliances?

Shes_fit_interior

As women have grown to buy more cars in recent decades -- accounting for about one-third of car shoppers in the United States -- such attempts have given way to more savvy marketing. But in Japan, the gender divide remains more stark; half of all working-age women stay out of the workforce due to more stringent societal pressure to choose homemaking over careers, a major reason Japan's economy has been stuck in a rut for decades. But there's a cohort of younger Japanese women putting work first, and in a weak market Honda sees an opening.

Launched this summer, the Honda Fit She's designers say they wanted to take a regular Fit subcompact and make it in their words "adult cute." That means lots of pink: Pink stitching in the seats and steering wheel and floor mats, matched by pink metallic bezels around the shifter and displays. There's also a few extra shades of pink in the special She's badge, spelled with a heart for an apostrophe. If pink isn't a customer's style, Japanese buyers can also select a Fit She's in shades of brown and white that a Honda executive told the Yomuri Shinbun newspaper match the color of eyeshadow.

To Honda's credit, the Fit She's beauty treatment isn't just skin deep. It also comes with special windshield glass that cuts 99 percent of ultraviolet rays and a "Plasmacluster" air conditioning system that Honda claims can improve a driver's skin quality, all aimed at stopping those wrinkles that turn adult cute into just adult. With a starting price of $17,500, the Fit She's got an attractive price for a home-market Japanese car.

Honda Beat Confirmed for Production

Honda-beat

Honda President Takanobu Ito has confirmed that a new-generation Beat model will be heading to production, bringing back the automaker’s mini-sports car  from 20 years ago.

Rumors and speculation of the Honda Beat revival began last year, and when the Japanese automaker displayed its EV-STER Concept, giving us a glimpse into its design. It’s the car that excites Honda President Ito the most and recently mentioned how his interest in the Beat came when development of the new NSX began.

“When the Beat was being built, I was on the development team to work on the NSX sports car and sports cars are something I really love,” Ito said. “I was kind of envious of the little cute sports car.”

Last year Honda confirmed that the EV-STER was heading to production, and now it appears that the production Beat model will be based on the EV-STER. The question is whether or not it’ll be a true sports car to take on the Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ, or if it’ll be an electric vehicle. Or perhaps, given its rumored Fit underpinnings, the new Beat will be available with a choice of electric or gasoline propulsion.

Honda to Provide $3,000 Fuel Cards to New Civic Natural Gas Vehicle Customers

2012_honda_civic_natural_gas

Fighting back against a spike in gasoline prices and building on momentum from record sales of the Civic Natural Gas Vehicle, American Honda today announced that it is working with Clean Energy Fuels Corp., America's largest owner of public compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations, and participating Honda dealers to provide a special savings to customers purchasing a new 2012 Civic Natural Gas Vehicle – a debit card pre-loaded with $3,000 that can be used at Clean Energy CNG fueling stations around the country to purchase fuel*. In addition to the fuel card savings, 2012 Civic Natural Gas Vehicle customers in California may have the added benefit of single-occupant access to High Occupancy Vehicle "carpool" lanes through January 1, 2015.**

With a combined EPA fuel economy rating of 31 mpg and a fuel cost savings of up to 40 percent compared to a typical gasoline-powered compact car, the Civic Natural Gas Vehicle can significantly reduce the pain at the pump. The Civic Natural Gas Vehicle can also be refueled in a matter of minutes, much like a conventional gasoline-powered car, and should be able to cover over 200 miles on a single tank of fuel (depending on driving conditions and style).

The nation-wide average price of natural gas fuel for vehicles in July was $2.05 per equivalent gasoline gallon, according to the most recent Department of Energy, Clean Cities Alternative Fuel Price report on fuel prices. Ninety-eight percent of natural gas consumed in North America is domestically produced.

The 2012 Civic Natural Gas Vehicle, the only OEM produced natural-gas powered passenger vehicle in the U.S, posted record sales since going on-sale in October 2011 as a new model, increasing 22 percent versus the same period a year ago, highlighting continued growing consumer interest in practical alternatives to gasoline, and natural gas in particular.

Named the "2012 Green Car of the Year" by Green Car Journal and one of the "greenest vehicles of 2012" by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), the redesigned 2012 Civic Natural Gas Vehicle runs on cleaner, abundant and domestically sourced inexpensive natural gas.

The 2013 Accord: Honda's great leap forward

2013_honda_accord_photo
In the eight generations since it first hit the streets in 1976, Honda's Accord has grown in size, performance, sophistication and model range, expanding at various points to include sedan, wagon and coupe body styles.

It was better-equipped than most and its reliability became legend. It's grown in sales, too, leading the mid-size sedan field for many years.

Now comes the ninth generation, available in sedan and coupe. The former is on sale now, the latter on Nov. 1.

Final pricing hasn't been announced, but the base LX sedan is expected to start at about $24,000. Pricing for the coupe will be revealed closer to its launch date.

Shoji Matsui, project leader on the new Accord and a 30-year veteran of the company, did not exactly criticize the eighth-gen car, called bland by critics.

But he wanted a car that excels in all areas, which pretty much meant starting from scratch. The 2013 Accord is about as new as it gets.

The body is smaller (by 70 mm overall, 25 in wheelbase) and lighter (by about 11 kg), in the interests of better performance, handling and fuel economy.

Total passenger volume is down by 50 litres, although key dimensions such as rear seat legroom and trunk space are improved.

Although many cars employ a rising beltline (the sill of the side windows) to convey a sense of forward motion, Matsui favours a flatter line, to improve outward visibility.

It still looks a bit rakish, but it doesn't catch the eye like Kia's Optima does. Accord has a typical Honda grille, with more than a hint of BMW 5 Series in the reverse rear roof pillar kink and tail lights.

There's a bigger step-up inside - perhaps the most impressive improvement in the entire car. Classy design and upgraded materials, especially in the so-called "touch zones" - door pulls, steering wheel and shift knob.

The instrument cluster has a three-dimensional layered look, with the speedometer literally front and centre, flanked by tachometer on the left and fuel and temperature gauges on the right.

A standard eight-inch touchscreen enables a host of standard or available features, including audio, cellphone, and HondaLink, a system containing applications such as an online music system, Facebook and Twitter.

The automatic door-locking can be disabled by the driver. Thanks, Honda.

Accord offers a lane-departure warning system, a forward-collision warning system and Lane Watch, wherein a camera in the right side-view mirror pod automatically displays a picture of your "blind spot" on the centre stack screen if it detects a car there.

If all this fails, Honda's "Advanced Compatibility Engineering" (ACE) body structure has been revised for better crash performance.

Honda is staying with a two-engine strategy - a four and a V6. A plug-in hybrid follows next summer.

The description of the four sounds the same as before - 2.4 litre twin-cam 16-valve with I-VTEC (variable valve timing and lift) and counter-rotating balance shafts.

But it is an all-new engine, with a lighter aluminum block, redesigned pistons and several friction-reducing technologies.

The big news is the adoption of direct fuel injection, which helps boost power by 4 per cent and torque by 12 per cent.

That means 185 horses and 181 lb.-ft. of torque. The Sport's more open exhaust system boosts those numbers to 189 and 182.

Fuel consumption is excellent, although not quite as good as the Altima's non-direct-injection 2.5 litre. Honda engineers admit they're stumped as to how Nissan gets its numbers.

The 3.5 litre V6 continues as the one-up option. It, too, has been reworked for improved power, torque and economy.

Bigger news still is the adoption of a continuously variable transmission (CVT) as the automatic option on the four (a six-speed manual is standard fitment on lower trim levels. V6 models offer a six-speed conventional automatic or, on the V6 coupe, a six-speed manual).

A CVT has a wider spread of ratios - higher high; lower low - and allows the engine to remain in its most efficient rev band for a greater percentage of the time, leading to better fuel consumption.

There is also no jerkiness between shifts because there are no "shifts" as such.

CVTs typically do have drawbacks, though. Most drivers are used to a stepped transmission, and the continuous variation feels unnatural. And there can be jerkiness when switching from Drive to Reverse.

Honda has incorporated a torque converter into its CVT, which essentially eliminates the latter issue and also helps allow for shift programming to feel more car-like, even if it costs a count or two on the efficiency scale.

The double-wishbone front suspension is replaced with a seemingly less-sophisticated MacStrut. Honda insists the new system, combined with electric power steering and a fluid-filled bushing on the lower control arm, provides more precise handling and greatly reduced vibration for a smoother ride. It also saves weight and cost.

The rear suspension remains multi-link, although revised again for a smoother quieter ride.

I spent most of my time during this one-day driving preview in a four-cylinder CVT sedan, because that figures to be the most popular version, by far.

The 2013 Accord is a huge step forward, as you'll note when you step inside: Big, comfy seats, fine finish and detailing, and a much more luxurious ambience.

The impression remains when you fire up and drive off. That cheaper suspension does a surprisingly good job of controlling body motions - the lighter body makes it easier.

Electric power steering is light. But enthusiasts should be able to dig down and feel that the feedback and precision are surprisingly good.

The engine is already pretty quiet. Active Noise Cancellation is said to reduce interior noise even further, although without an off switch, it's impossible to determine by how much.

Personally, I have never minded the unusual characteristics of a CVT, because the things we have got used to - the steps in a transmission - are only there to cover up the failure of an internal combustion engine to generate sufficient torque over a broad enough rev range to be useful in a car. A CVT simply works better, under most conditions.

The rear seat - one strong point of the outgoing Accord - is still spacious, despite the smaller overall cabin. If rear seat room is your primary criterion, you won't look further than the VW Passat.

In this competitive segment, Accords have the built-in advantage of 37 years of history, leaving it with a huge, deliriously happy customer base. The wide range of attributes on the new one will surely tempt newcomers, too.

Honda introduces the all new Civic Type R

2013_honda_civic_type_r_photo
Honda Motors has just announced an all new Civic Type R model that is expected to go on sales post 2015 and if history repeats itself, this Type R could be well accepted in the market and eventually turn out to be a bigger commercial success than the original model. There is a high chance of that occurring as Honda Type R vehicles are in a league of their own.

Honda has been developing Type R vehicles for close to two decades now and their experience is definitely trust worthy. The Civic Type R like all its other siblings sport the red Type R badge on its back and this makes the vehicle look even better than the original.

It can be correctly said that the Civic is a car which truly deserved a Type R badge. Honda had also helped the Ayrton Senna sport the Type R badge in the 1990s when the company was on its way developing the NSX.
The NSX was the first real vehicle to sport an entire chassis, body and frame of aluminum and the vehicle was a complete hit on and off track. The NSX has been remodeled quite a few times and the NSX R was the most successful of the lot.

Even though very few NSX models were manufactured, the vehicle still holds a special place in the hearts of all the people who owned the car. The last generation of the NSX was launched back in 2002 and this was the most successful model of the lot.

The NSX sported a 3.2 liter powerful V6 engine and was totally hand assembled. It was a true beauty and the collector’s pride. The NSX R GT was another beast which was built to generate hype around the vehicle when it was set to be phased out of the market.

The NSX R GT was a dominating vehicle on all Japanese race tracks and soon the vehicle became the talking point of people all over the world, once again. In 1995, Honda introduced the Type R badge on the Integra, a less popular Honda model at the time.

The Integra Type R soon won hearts all over the racing circuit with its trustworthy performance, high speed and high safety standards. Although this vehicle was never used for professional racing, its record on the track was more than satisfying.

The Integra received a new 1.8 liter engine and the fine tuning helped the performance increase of the vehicle within an affordable budget. The Integra R managed to control the Ford car sales more than the basic model could ever dream of doing.

The base model of the Honda Civic was introduced in the market back in 1996 and this is high time that the vehicle gets a Type R badge attached to it. Honda has high expectations from this Type R vehicle and this is a genuine claim.

The Civic has enough power to be one of the best selling models from Honda and it is set to do just that post launch.

The 2013 Honda Accord Releases TODAY! Final 2013 Honda Accord Data: Automatic Dual-Zone Climate Control

2012-09-17_1718

Automatic Dual-Zone Climate Control

Dual-zone automatic climate control lets you have it your way.

Peace at last; no more climate wars in the new Accord.

All Accord models feature a dual-zone automatic climate control system with independent left and right temperature controls. A single temperature can be selected for the entire cabin, or the driver and front passenger can set different temperatures for their side of the cabin.

On navigation-equipped models, the dual-zone climate control system uses Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to monitor the vehicle position relative to the sun, making necessary adjustments to help ensure that selected interior temperatures remain stable in the respective zones. This is one smart car.

The 2013 Honda Accord Releases Tomorrow! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

2013-honda-accord-adaptivecruisecontrol

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

The Accord Touring Sedan’s Adaptive Cruise Control helps cope with the ebb and flow of highway traffic.

New Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is exclusive to the Accord Touring Sedan in the Honda lineup. As with a conventional cruise-control system, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) allows the driver to set a desired speed. But ACC goes a step further, allowing the driver to set a desired speed and the following distance behind the vehicle ahead.

While cruising, engagement of Adaptive Cruise Control prompts the driver to select a short, medium or long distance behind the vehicle ahead. ACC then modulates the throttle and applies moderate braking, if necessary, to hold the selected following distance.

Drivers will find that Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) simplifies driving and helps reduce fatigue by automatically controlling the distance to the vehicle ahead.

Get the Big(ger) Picture

For a more complete picture of the area around the vehicle, all Accord models have a standard Expanded View Driver’s Mirror.

Like the mirror that made its debut on CR-V, the new Accord’s Expanded View Driver’s Mirror increases the driver’s field of vision to provide a better view of objects that might otherwise be hidden in the vehicle’s left-side “blind spot.” Finally, a way to see what you’ve been missing.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 5 Days Left! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Sweet 6-Speed Automatic

Honda-accord-6-speed

Sweet 6-Speed Automatic

To maximize acceleration and fuel efficiency, the 2013 Accord V-6 is available with an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission.

Accord V-6 is the first Honda sedan to feature a new 6-speed automatic transmission that advances launch feel and acceleration performance. Combined with Accord V-6’s Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) system, the new transmission is a major factor in the car’s improved fuel efficiency.

Compared to the previous-generation 5-speed transmission, the new 6-speed transmission can have a wider gear ratio spread that offers aggressive lower ratios for strong acceleration, coupled with a top gear that makes for relaxed and fuel-efficient highway cruising. The 6-speed manual transmission helps make Accord V-6 fast, frugal and fun.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 6 Days Away! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: A Third Eye On the Road

Lanedeparturewarning

A Third Eye On the Road.

Honda’s first application of Lane Departure Warning (LDW) comes as an available feature in the 2013 Accord.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is an available technology on the new Accord. The system uses a digital camera mounted behind the windshield to monitor the roadway ahead to alert the driver if the car is unexpectedly moving out of its intended lane. Think of LDW as one more eye on the road. One that doesn’t blink.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 8 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Excitment Meets Efficiency with VCM (Variable Cylinder Management)

320px-honda_j35a_vcm_engine

Excitement Meets Efficiency with VCM.

Accord V-6 models with the 6-speed automatic transmission feature Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) for the best of both worlds.

The 2013 Accord’s new, more powerful V-6 can also stretch fuel further with an overall improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the outgoing model. Plus, it offers greater smoothness and more consistent power delivery than the turbocharged 4-cylinder engines in some competitive cars.

How does VCM work? During startup, aggressive acceleration or when climbing hills – any time high power output is required – the engine operates on all six cylinders. During moderate-speed cruising and at low or moderate engine loads, the system operates on a reduced number of cylinders.

The VCM system can change the working displacement of the engine to match the driving requirements from moment to moment. It’s like having a small engine when you only need a little power and a big engine when you really need to move. Since the system automatically closes both the intake and exhaust valves of the cylinders that are not used, pumping losses associated with intake and exhaust are eliminated and fuel efficiency gets a further boost.

The VCM system combines maximum performance and maximum fuel efficiency – two characteristics that don’t happily coexist in conventional engines. Glad to say they get along just fine in the new Accord V-6 automatic.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: Fewer Gas Pains

Fewer Gas Pains.

With significantly improved fuel efficiency for a midsize automatic-equipped sedan, the 2013 Accord 4-cylinder can save you money at the pump.

Even though the 2013 Accord has more equipment and features than ever before, and it has a new 4-cylinder engine with more horsepower and considerably more torque than the engine it replaces, the vehicle is substantially more fuel-efficient.

What are the main reasons? More use of lighter, stronger steel, a new direct injection system and the available Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). With an essentially infinite range of available gear ratios, the CVT has just the right gear for every situation, maximizing efficiency – and gas station drive-bys.

Happy 62nd Birthday Julie Kavner AKA Marge Simpson! Can you name the oversize SUV that instantly transformed Marge's personality?

Hint: "Can you name the truck with four-wheel drive, smells like a steak and seats thirty-five... Twelve yards long, two lanes wide, sixty-five tons of American Pride...!"

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 12 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Can You Count to Infinity? (Continuously Variable Transmission)

Cvt

Can You Count to Infinity?

The 2013 Accord 4-cylinder’s Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) has more gear ratios than you’d care to count.

Conventional automatic transmissions typically have five or six gear ratios to choose from, so the shift logic selects the gear that is the closest to ideal for the situation.

Accord’s CVT, on the other hand, has two variable-width pulleys connected by a metallic belt. The belt can circle the angled pulley faces at varying diameters, depending on the pulley width. The change in effective diameter alters the ratio between the pulleys.

What does that mean in plain English? Instead of approximating the correct ratio for the conditions like a conventional automatic does, Accord’s CVT can precisely select the optimum ratio from moment to moment without conventional shifts or slippage. So if you need power, efficiency – or both – there’s a gear for that (and hundreds more).

Accord’s newly reworked and more powerful available V-6 can be paired with a new 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The 2013 Honda Accord Countdown: 19 Days! Today's 2013 Honda Accord Daily Data: Style Meets Substance

01-2013-honda-accord-sedan

Style Meets Substance.

The all-new Accord takes Honda’s exterior styling in a fresh, athletic direction.

Accord has always been known for delivering the virtues that owners are after – things like comfort, roominess, features and proven value. With the arrival of the all-new Accord, though, those virtues are wrapped in athletic and expressive new styling.

Accord Sedan’s body sides are dramatic, with a character line flowing upward and rearward across the door surfaces, and a deep contour strategically positioned at the lower door panels. Bright window-surround trim adds a luxury feel, while in back, the tops of the rear fenders curve inward toward the C-pillars like flexed muscles. The EX-L and Touring models offer chrome door handles and additional trim on the rear panel for added elegance.

To give the cabin an open, airy feel for both front and rear passengers, Accord has a relatively low beltline, large glass area and thin A-pillars.

The new Accord Coupe is the most dramatic 2-door Accord yet. Its front end is set apart with a large lower radiator opening. The large front wheel arches flow into deep character lines that sweep across the doors and back to the muscular rear wheel arches, while the flowing roofline draws the eye up and over the windswept cabin.

Careful sculpting on the lower door sides helps to direct airflow around the rear tires. The roofline, body side character lines and rear wheel arches all converge at the deck-lid, drawing the eye to the rear spoiler on the V-6 models.

For customers, the newfound style gives Accord an added dimension.
